We are currently looking for a Research Analyst to join our expanding team!
This opportunity is a key position in our expanding Research team with a clear career path to a senior research analyst position. The role requires a talented individual to conduct research with a global remit focused on the publicly traded infrastructure and property markets. You will be conducting bottom-up and data-driven research in the listed infrastructure and property space, generating ideas and writing research reports for fund managers and/or an investment committee. The ideal candidate will be able to actively participate during the full investment process, as well as supporting the fund managers with all daily operational aspects of managing our listed infrastructure and listed property funds.
Key Responsibilities
* Generate investment ideas across the listed global infrastructure and property equity markets.
* Gather and analyse data from numerous sources to drive investment decisions and performance.
* Conduct all required financial modelling to support any investment decision.
* Perform management and site visits as required on potential investments.
* Compile findings into written research reports for the fund managers and/or investment committee.
* Support the fund managers with all daily operational aspects of managing our Listed Real Asset funds including liaising with our key counterparties, modelling trades and reconciling trade data.
* Keep updated on changing economic and/or political developments that would impact the global infrastructure and property markets.
* Liaise with internal Blackfinch teams to both share research findings, and also as part of the knowledge gathering process.
* Support the fund managers and other internal teams with updating marketing material as requested.
* Gradually become a leading infrastructure and property sector expert across Blackfinch Group.
Skills & Experience
* Up to 2 years working experience in an Analyst or Equity Research capacity, preferably within Real Assets. Graduate and entry-level applicants will also be considered.
* Highly motivated, inquisitive, and eager to support senior colleagues and expand knowledge levels.
* Provide examples of using data-driven analysis to guide decisions.
* Show an ability to interpret complex data and their impacts.
* Have excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to work with various teams.
* Have an excellent ability to simply articulate complex issues, both in written form and verbally.
* Be highly confident numerically and ideally proficient with Microsoft Office and in particular Excel. Knowledge of financial data package such as Bloomberg desirable but not essential.
* Be a strong team player and have an innate ability in supporting colleagues.
* Willingness to develop further commercial mindset and proactive approach to networking and growing a network of contacts.
* Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and meet stretching deadlines.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Must be able to work independently and proactively.
* Be a cultural ambassador for Blackfinch and lead by example. Fostering a can-do attitude and one that develops all staff to aspire to continuously improve.
* Ensure compliance with all company policies, regulatory, professional and legal requirements.
* Attend ad-hoc industry conferences, networking and corporate hospitality events (as agreed with the Lead Fund Manager) to represent and promote the Blackfinch brand / grow professional network.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
* Hold a 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification.
* Studying or willing to study towards obtaining a professional qualification e.g. IMC or CFA is desirable.
