IT Support Engineer
Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 PLUS 28 Days Holiday rising with service, Private Pension, Private Healthcare, Company Sick Pay and more!
We’re hiring an experienced IT Support Engineer to join a well-established engineering business that values robust infrastructure and reliable support. This role is ideal for someone confident working across both office and production environments and eager to play a key role in a growing IT function. You’ll act as a key escalation point for support issues and contribute to systems stability across operational teams.
Responsibilities
* Provide 2nd line IT support across production, office, and remote users
* Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues
* Maintain and manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
* Support virtualised environments using VMWare and Hyper‑V
* Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, and routers
* Assist with patching, upgrades, and general infrastructure projects
* Maintain accurate documentation for all technical procedures and changes
* Work closely with operations teams to ensure minimal downtime and high system performance
Requirements
* Proven experience in a 2nd line IT support role
* Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server and virtualization platforms
* Hands‑on experience with network devices (firewalls, switches, routers)
* Confident managing Active Directory environments
* Excellent troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to issue resolution
