Are you an experienced Fabrication Supervisor with strong leadership skills and a background in heavy engineering or wear‑resistant materials? We're supporting a leading manufacturing business in Barnsley that specialises in abrasion‑ and impact‑resistant fabrications, operating from a large, well‑equipped production facility.

The Role
As Fabrication Supervisor, you will oversee the day‑to‑day running of a busy fabrication workshop, leading a team of welders and fabricators producing chrome carbide overlay plate fabrications, wear‑resistant components and refurbished industrial parts.
This is a hands‑on leadership role, perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced heavy engineering setting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, support, and mentor a team of welders and fabricators in a large, modern workshop.
Allocate workloads, manage workflow, and ensure projects are completed on time.
Oversee production of hardfaced plate fabrications, curved and conical components, and wear‑resistant assemblies.
Support refurbishment and reclamation work on industrial components such as rolls and heavy housings.
Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, welding specs, and strict quality standards.
Drive continuous improvement across fabrication methods, productivity, and safety.
Conduct toolbox talks, ensure correct PPE usage, and promote a strong safety culture.We're looking for someone with:
Proven experience supervising a fabrication or heavy engineering workshop.
Strong knowledge of welding processes (open arc, submerged arc, MIG/MAG, TIG, and hard facing).
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
Experience working to ASME IX / BS EN welding codes.
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
A hands‑on leadership style and passion for quality and safety.Desirable: Experience with wear‑resistant materials, chrome carbide overlay plate, refurbishment work, or heavy industrial components.
