About this role
This role leads a Learning Development team comprising around 9 staff and is based within the Library and Learning Services Learning Innovation and Skills Team (LIST), alongside the Career Development and Digital Learning teams. The team will collaborate with academic and other professional services staff to:
* Design and deliver inclusive and innovative learning and assessment activities, embedded within the curriculum, that engage students to develop the academic English and academic literacies required to ensure integrity and confidence in their academic practice whilst optimising any learning differences.
* Establish relevant scaffolded co-curricular, small group, short course and one to one support to help students consolidate, fill gaps and improve their skills to maximise the chances of achieving successful programme outcomes.
* Develop and promote reading lists and other resources / collections to engage and excite students with a range of diverse and inclusive resources, encouraging reading and enquiry within their subject discipline and beyond.
This role is based at the Glenside Campus in support of the College of Health, Science and Society (CHSS). This college comprises four schools, two of which are based at the Frenchay Campus which means that the team is split but team members work collaboratively across the two campuses which are around 2 miles apart.
About you
As the Learning Development Manager (LDM) for the College of Health Science and Society (CHSS) you will work collaboratively with senior staff and academics within the college and will understand the learning and research requirements of students and staff in the various disciplines represented within it, as well as the professional contexts within which the staff and students might work.
You will attend relevant college and school meetings as partners in the development of the curriculum, preparing for and presenting at validations / accreditations and ensuring relevant resources are available for the discipline areas being taught and researched.
You will be part of a wider network of health librarians and professionals supporting students on placement, both in health and education settings.
Your expertise in leading a multi professional team of librarians and learning developers will aim to ensure that students have every chance of meeting or exceeding the academic requirements of their programmes and to enable them to graduate from UWE, Bristol as skilled, confident, compassionate citizens prepared for their chosen futures.
You will contribute to university staff development activities that aim to increase understanding and use of inclusive practice such as embedding academic literacy within the curriculum and harnessing new technologies.
Where is this role based?
This post is based at our Glenside Campus which is set within beautiful grounds in Stapleton, just three miles north east of Bristol City Centre.

This is a full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week.
