We are now seeking an experienced General Builder / Site Manager / Project Manager to oversee the reinstatement of a fire-damaged property in Leicester. This position offers an excellent short-term opportunity with the potential for ongoing involvement in future WHL Projects contracts.
The Role
This is a dual role combining hands-on building work with site management responsibilities.
* In the first phase (approx. 4 weeks), you will be directly involved in key structural tasks, including replacing joists, installing lintels, and general building works.
* As the project progresses, your focus will shift to managing trades, coordinating the programme, monitoring quality, and ensuring smooth delivery.
You will be the central point of responsibility on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake initial building works (joists, lintels, structural repairs).
* Lead and coordinate subcontractors and specialist trades.
* Manage and maintain the construction programme.
* Monitor progress, quality, and compliance with specifications.
* Manage site variations, reporting effectively to senior management.
* Ensure health & safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience in general building with a solid understanding of structural works.
* Strong background in site or project management within construction.
* Ability to balance hands-on work with leadership and coordination duties.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* H&S awareness essential; SMSTS/SSSTS desirable.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to deliver under pressure.
