Overview
The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK. The Department of Neurosurgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is offering a fixed‑term position (12 months) starting August 2026. The role involves providing in‑patient ward care for neurosurgical patients as part of a team of ten junior doctors, supported by SPRs and consultants.
Shift Pattern
Mon–Sun early/late, nights, weekends and on‑call rota.
Responsibilities
Assess admissions and manage acute patients on wards and in HDU.
Organise and collate test results and complete immediate discharge summaries.
Attend in‑house meetings in neuro‑surgery and neuro‑radiology.
Participate in a 10‑person FY2 team on a 24/7 on‑call rota.
Qualifications
GMC registration and a license to practice in the UK.
Completion of a UK foundation programme within 3.5 years of the advertised post start date.
Applicants who have not undertaken a UK foundation programme within this period may be required to submit a Certificate of Readiness to Enter Specialty Training (CREST).
