Job Description:
Join our dynamic team at Mitie Telecoms to develop and implement detailed telecoms planning strategies that support network expansion and optimisation, working collaboratively with various internal functions to achieve company objectives.
Main purpose of the role:
As a Planning Surveyor based at our modern Manchester offices, you will be part of the Acquisition & Planning team. This technical SME role involves managing activities related to securing planning rights necessary for Mitie projects, including MNO customer projects (upgrades, replacements, new sites) and specialist projects involving Solar PV and EV solutions. The Planning Surveyor will work across multiple client programmes, requiring teamwork and technical expertise in planning activities.
Key responsibilities:
* Conduct site surveys and planning appraisals to facilitate project delivery.
* Prepare and manage planning applications through the entire process.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to provide expert planning advice.
* Perform research and analyses to identify trends affecting project progress.
* Conduct site feasibility studies for new telecoms infrastructure.
* Work with local authorities, developers, and community stakeholders to meet regulatory requirements.
* Analyze network performance data and recommend improvements.
* Prepare detailed planning reports and documentation.
* Ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and policies.
* Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
* Provide technical support to junior team members.
* Analyse market data and advise clients accordingly.
* Assess impacts of economic, social, and environmental factors.
Desired attributes:
Strong analytical and numerical skills, effective communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal skills, negotiation, networking, and presentation abilities. Interest in legal matters, policies, and procedures. Creative problem-solving, commercial awareness, understanding of the telecom sector, teamwork, sound decision-making, business management skills, and proficiency with IT and relevant software are essential.
