We’re looking for a hands-on Hotel Engineering Supervisor to support the Engineering Manager and lead our maintenance team at the recently refurbished Glasgow Marriott Hotel. Following significant investment and upgrades to our guest rooms, public areas, and facilities, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a modern, high-quality 4-star property in the heart of the city.
This is a full-time, on-site position (minimum 40 hours per week), including rostered weekends and participation in an on-call rota (with incentive pay during on-call weeks).
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will supervise and support a team of maintenance technicians while remaining fully hands-on in daily operations. You’ll ensure the hotel operates safely, efficiently, and in line with Marriott brand standards — delivering an exceptional guest experience at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Maintenance Operations

Lead, motivate, and support a team of maintenance technicians.
*
Carry out and oversee planned and reactive maintenance across all hotel areas.
*
Maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical plant, and associated systems.
*
Ensure full compliance with the preventative maintenance programme.
*
Respond promptly to guest repair requests and operational issues.
*
Complete life safety checks including fire pump tests, generator tests, sprinkler and alarm inspections.
Contractor & Compliance Management
*
Control and coordinate external contractors on site, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to required standards.
*
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, COSHH, Legionella, and statutory regulations.
*
Maintain accurate records, logs, and certification documentation.
*
Use Lockout/Tagout procedures and safe systems of work at all times.
Leadership & Collaboration
*
Assist with training, scheduling, and performance support of the engineering team.
*
Support departmental planning, stock control, and purchasing of parts and supplies.
*
Work closely with all hotel departments to minimise disruption to guests.
*
Promote energy efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
*
Hospitality industry experience is preferrable, ideally within a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
*
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within hotel engineering.
*
Strong working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
*
Experience managing and supervising contractors.
*
Solid understanding of statutory compliance and safety standards.
*
Health & Safety qualifications are preferable.
*
Proactive, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
*
Strong communication skills and commitment to guest service excellence.
