Job Description
Scope of Position
The Commis Waiter will work alongside chef de rangs on the floor, supporting them during service with food pickup, table service, clearing tables, station refills, and drink service. The Commis Waiter is also responsible for polishing and maintaining glassware and crockery, keeping a neat and tidy back of house, and working closely with the back of house team to ensure that clean plates and flatware are always available for each table. They will also support the barista and hosts when required.
Responsibilities
Operation
* Knowledge of menu and all products served within the drawing room.
* Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests’ tables rapidly and accurately, explaining each dish.
* Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff.
* Assist wait staff with table setting, fetching and placing appropriate tableware, utensils, and napkins.
* Explain dishes to guests with knowledge and professionalism.
* Check in with customers, take additional orders, or refill water as needed.
* Serve food and remove used dishes and utensils.
* Ensure food is served according to safety standards.
* Inform restaurant staff of customer feedback or requests.
* Practice sustainable waste management and purchasing daily.
* Perform additional duties in the absence of line or senior managers, including working in different departments or restaurants.
Health and Safety
* Report and rectify hazards immediately.
* Be familiar with all departmental Fire, Emergency, and Bomb procedures.
* Ensure safety of persons and property by adhering to laws and ordinances and pre-planning against hazards.
* Promote health and safety awareness in all tasks and activities.

* Experience in luxury hotels working with standards like LQA, Forbes 5*, or similar.
