Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Rochester – On-site (work from home ½ day Friday)
Role Type: Permanent
Our client, an established aerospace & defence manufacturing firm in Rochester, requires an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team.
Responsibilities include:
* Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans, Design Scheme Data Packs, and other engineering details for review and customer forums.
* Peer check work of other mechanical engineers, including designs, data, calculations, and reports.
* Chair design review panels at various levels, both internal and external.
* Develop project plans, lead teams, and monitor progress and budgets.
* Manage resource allocation within the Mechanical Engineering team.
* Support bids by preparing estimates and proposals.
* Conduct Performance and Development Reviews and participate in Salary Reviews.
* Ensure compliance with departmental and company policies.
Requirements:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Proven product development experience from concept to production.
* Leadership and project management experience.
* Experience with avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, and related areas.
* Experience in preparing technical datasets and using CAD tools, preferably CREO, TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA.
