Free to Be You is a private, neurodivergent-affirming organisation based in Sheffield, founded and managed by Leah Booker. We provide a range of specialist services—including counselling, art therapy, psychotherapy, person-centred support, training, clinical supervision, and consultancy. All services are available on a one-to-one basis for children, young people, young adults, and adults, as well as for professionals and organisations. We regularly work with mainstream schools, colleges, PRUs, alternative provision settings, and private employers.* We offer face to face and remote services depending upon need.
Our Founder and Managing Director, Leah, is neurodivergent, bringing lived experience directly into the heart of our all our work. We understand first-hand the barriers and discrimination many neurodivergent individuals face when seeking support for their mental health and wellbeing. That insight shapes everything we do. Our services are individually and thoughtfully tailored to meet the unique needs of each person we work with.
We also recognise that the journey toward assessment or diagnosis can be complex and, at times, emotionally challenging—for individuals and families alike. There is often a significant waiting period between seeking support and receiving a formal diagnosis, during which uncertainty and need may be at their highest.
At Free to Be You, we offer compassionate, person-centred counselling and psychotherapy throughout this time—regardless of whether a diagnosis is ultimately pursued or received. We respect that for many, neurodivergence is not experienced as a disorder, but simply as a different way of being. Our approach also honours this perspective with care, respect, and integrity.
