The Opportunity: Lead & Shape UK Manufacturing
This is a key leadership role within Peikko UK's expanding Newton Aycliffe manufacturing facility. You'll be central to the site's operational success and planned growth, offering a unique chance to shape production processes, embed best practices, and drive performance in a key strategic asset for the global Peikko Group during its scaling phase. Crucially, this role holds significant potential for expansion; we are seeking the right individual to help evolve the current setup, potentially including the establishment of a new facility in the future. Therefore, exceptional management and leadership skills are paramount.
Your Role: Production Leadership
Lead the efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of the Newton Aycliffe facility. You will manage production planning, resources, quality assurance, HSE, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Production Management: Plan, schedule, and manage production to meet customer orders on time and within budget.
* Resource Optimisation: Oversee personnel, equipment, materials, and inventory.
* Quality & Safety: Enforce quality standards (ISO 9001 familiarity ideal) and ensure a safe working environment (ISO 45001/14001 familiarity beneficial), fostering a "safety first" culture.
* Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the production team, setting KPIs and managing performance.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements (e.g., OEE focus) to boost productivity and reduce costs.
* Cost Control: Manage departmental budgets and implement cost-saving measures.
* Maintenance Oversight: Oversee equipment maintenance to minimise downtime.
* Reporting & Collaboration: Analyse data, report on performance, and liaise effectively with other departments (Sales, Procurement, Engineering).
Who We're Looking For:
Essential:
* Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar leadership role in manufacturing/engineering (metal fabrication/construction supply chain advantageous).
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, quality control, and HSE regulations.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop production teams effectively. Exceptional leadership and management capabilities are critical for this role's growth potential.
* Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives and achieving efficiency gains.
* Budget management and cost control experience.
* Proficiency with manufacturing IT systems (ERP).
* Excellent planning, organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Resilient, results-driven, and able to work under pressure.
* Beneficial/Desirable:
* Knowledge/experience in welding technology and relevant standards (e.g., IWE, IWT, IWS) is highly desirable.
* Experience with construction market standards such as EN1090-1/EN1090-2 and UKCA marking requirements is highly desirable.
* Significant practical experience in Health & Safety management within a manufacturing environment, potentially supported by professional certifications (e.g., IOSH), is highly desirable.
* A degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations Management, or a related technical field (highly valued, but extensive relevant experience is key).
* Experience using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
* Experience in a manufacturing start-up or scaling environment.
