WeBuild Recruitment is recruiting a SHEQ Advisor on behalf of a specialist engineering and operations company supporting the UK energy and utilities sectors. They deliver services across design, construction, and asset management of high-voltage networks, renewables, and grid connection projects.
Responsibilities
 * Maintain, monitor and report on SHEQ metrics, KPIs and registers specific to the company — covering safety incidents, environmental performance, quality non‑conformances, and near‑misses.
 * Ensure SHEQ management system (incorporating ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) is maintained for company activities.
 * Coordinate internal and external audits for company sites/operations; track findings and ensure closure.
 * Contribute to development and revision of SHEQ policies/procedures tailored to delivery phases.
 * Prepare and deliver regular reporting (monthly/quarterly) to senior management.
 * Conduct risk assessments, RAMS, site inspections and SHEQ reviews.
 * Identify hazards and opportunities for improvement; liaise with teams to implement corrective actions.
 * Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses including root cause analysis and follow‑up.
 * Support change management to embed SHEQ in design, construction and asset management phases.
 * Quality & Environmental Performance
 o Oversee quality assurance activities within the company and ensure deliverables meet required standards.
 o Monitor environmental aspects of company operations (waste, emissions, sustainability initiatives).
 o Support continuous improvement initiatives in SHEQ and embed a culture of high performance.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Proven experience in a SHEQ Advisor, SHEQ Officer or similar role within a construction, engineering, or asset-care environment.
 * Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, environmental regulations, and ISO management systems.
 * Recognised NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification (or willingness to obtain).
 * Experience in audits, investigations, risk assessments, and SHEQ reporting.
 * Strong IT skills and experience of SHEQ systems/document control.
