Advanced Manufacturing (Sheffield) Limited (AML) is an advanced machining supplier focused on aerofoil and rotative components. We are at the leading edge of machining technologies and are dedicated to delivering efficiency and reduced cycle times for our clients in the aerospace sector. Our advanced milling, turning and 5-axis capacity enables us to machine a wide range of products including bespoke ring, casing, gearbox, aerofoil and aerostructure components. To-Date, we have manufactured components for Rolls-Royce, Boeing, Siemens, Bombardier and are looking to expand out Machining capabilities over the coming year.
The Position
Transactional Oversight & Data Quality
• Oversee the accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
• Monitor data quality and proactively address posting or coding issues
• Supervise transactional staff to uphold high data integrity standards and consistency
• Be the main point of contact for the transactional staff in resolving queries received via shared accounts email, ensuring timely and accurate responses
• Regularly review finance systems and processes, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and data accuracy
• Monitor and analyse company spending to ensure alignment with budgetary guidelines and identify opportunities for cost savings
• Produce and review weekly financial analyses including KPIs and spend trend
Period-End Close & Reporting:
• Manage and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities with absolute adherence to strict period-end deadlines
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries
• Maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare all required trackers and supporting financial schedules
• Produce timely and accurate management accounts under the company's reporting deadlines
Audit & External Reporting:
• Support financial audits, ensure controls are in place to support clean audit outcomes, prepare appropriate documentation and provide accurate and prompt responses to auditor requests
• Complete Office for National Statistics (ONS) surveys and any other required external reports including preparation of the reports for the Group
• Manage all HMRC statutory reporting, ensuring timely and accurate Corporation Tax and VAT submissions
• Prepare reports and evidence for government grants or externally funded projects, ensuring compliance with reporting criteria
• Act as administrator for bank accounts and company credit cards, managing reconciliations and related communications
Operational Finance Support:
• Liaise with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial input
• Enforce robust financial controls and approval processes across the business to safeguard assets and ensure compliance
• Maintain and manage the fixed asset register and the tooling register and ensure compliance with company asset management procedures
• Assist with the monthly payroll activities
• Collaborate closely with the Finance Director and help in project-related tasks
• Carry out ad hoc finance work as required to support the wider finance team and business needs
• Comply with all applicable health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and legal obligations, including those relevant to CNC machining and high-reliability manufacturing.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, reporting any hazards, incidents, near-misses or unsafe behavior's promptly and accurately.
• Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately, ensuring correct use in line with task and risk requirements.
• Participate in mandatory EHS training, emergency response drills, and company health and wellbeing initiatives.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement in safety and sustainability, including contributing ideas for reducing risk, waste, and environmental impact.
• Demonstrate environmental awareness by following procedures for responsible use of materials, recycling and energy conservation.
The Person
• Proven track record in an SME finance role with hands-on responsibility for period-end reporting and compliance
• Strong technical accounting skills and understanding of UK GAAP
• Proficient in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
• Comfortable working to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
• Process-driven with a mindset for continuous improvement
• Excellent attention to details and organisational skills
• Strong communicator with ability to work across departments
