Offer description

Job Overview Please note this is a fixed term secondment for 5 years, working 1 day per week, intended for internal applicants who will complete this secondment alongside their current role. Please discuss with your current line manager before applying, as you will need their agreement if you intend to reduce your current working hours to accommodate this fixed term role in addition to your current role. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team working within GP surgeries as ‘first contact practitioners’. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of a primary care Audiology service within a specific Primary Care cluster while maintaining links with the hospital based secondary care Audiology service. Building close working relationships with several different surgeries and liaising with both primary and secondary care colleagues will be a key part of the role. Day to day work will involve seeing patients with hearing difficulty, bothersome tinnitus and treating those with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. The service is aged 5 years and upward so there will be some paediatric work. Specialised wax removal using micro-suction is part of the role and training can be arranged for the successful candidate if required. The post holder will also have the option of a regular clinical session in secondary care as part of a full time role - this will be either an advanced adult rehab, paediatric or vestibular clinic, according to the post holder’s preference. Main duties of the job The service operates across the whole of North Wales from Wrexham to Anglesey, covering a diverse area with outstanding coastal and rural scenery. The role will also involve managing and co-ordinating the delivery of a routine wax removal service within the cluster, including line management of a Band 5 Audiologist. The successful candidate will be supported in the development of their line management skills. As this is an ‘Advanced Practice’ post, we are looking for an experienced Audiologist who has already started working towards his/her career advancement in a senior role and is eligible to register with the HCPC, if not already registered. The ideal candidate will have a good breadth of experience working in a secondary care Audiology Service, be confident working autonomously and ready for a new career challenge. If you are inspired by the opportunity to be involved at the start of the patient journey we would love to hear from you. If you would like to spend a day shadowing the service, please contact us to discuss prior to application. Please note, relocation expenses may be available for the successful candidate. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Working for our organisation If you relish a challenge, have a passion to help others or simply fancy a fresh start, then Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) North Wales, has all the right ingredients.
