Site Delivery Lead (Heavy Civils) - Construction Director Level
Location: Leiston, Suffolk – 5 days a week onsite, with travel to other locations.
Salary: Senior Lead – competitive, dependent on experience.
Contract: Permanent, Full-time.
Benefits: 10% bonus, £6,900 car allowance, contributory pension up to 7.5% employee/15% employer, private healthcare, flexible benefits fund.

Role Overview
We’re seeking a seasoned Site Delivery Lead – Civils to join the Sizewell C project, supporting the delivery of one of Europe’s largest low‑carbon energy developments. This high‑impact role leads a major section of the site delivery footprint, encompassing heavy civils, concrete structures, marine works and complex infrastructure packages. You will work client‑side within the Principal Contractor framework, providing leadership across capital works and civils delivery, ensuring safe, efficient progress on a scale rarely seen in the UK construction landscape.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead and manage a team of senior managers responsible for the successful delivery of civils packages on site.
* Oversee Principal Contractor duties in line with CDM regulations and SZC’s safety culture.
* Manage cross‑programme and alliance interfaces – including MEH and Civils alliances.
* Drive delivery performance against key metrics – safety, schedule, budget, and scope.
* Ensure integration of all site‑based activities and interface management with key delivery functions.
* Own the programme execution strategy for your area, working in alignment with the overall infrastructure delivery roadmap.
* Influence and lead matrix teams including quality, safety, and technical assurance functions.
* Escalate and resolve risks, resource challenges and delivery blockers.
What You’ll Bring
* Deep experience in heavy civils, major infrastructure, marine civils, or tunnelling – ideally on mega projects.
* Proven delivery in a Tier 1 contractor environment or client‑side programme leadership role.
* Hands‑on experience with reinforced concrete structures, high‑integrity formwork, deep foundations, or large‑scale earthworks.
* Strong track record in managing multi‑disciplinary teams through all phases of the project lifecycle.
* Ability to lead NEC/FIDIC contract delivery and manage complex commercial interfaces.
* Experience working in regulated or high‑hazard environments, ideally nuclear or comparable.
* Professional qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (CEng / Fellow preferred).
* A collaborative, solution‑driven mindset with a focus on delivery and continuous improvement.
* Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, programming, and risk tools.
* Experience managing contractors, consultants, and advisors on large, regulated projects.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and facilitation skills.
* Detailed understanding of EPR design and nuclear quality assurance.
* Knowledge of APM Body of Knowledge and Prince2 project management principles.
Qualifications
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering / Construction Management (or equivalent).
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Fellow (ICE, IStructE, CIOB) preferred.
* Demonstrated experience managing projects through full lifecycle from concept to handover.

Sizewell C is an exciting and large new megaproject in the UK, set to be one of the largest power stations to operate in the country. The 3.2‑gigawatt nuclear power station will generate low‑carbon electricity for at least 60 years, supplying over 6 million homes and supporting around 7% of the UK’s current electricity needs.
