Job Description
Purpose
The Component Test department is responsible for undertaking a wide range of climatic, vibration and functional durability tests for a range of sectors.
This role will cover all aspects of component testing with the successful candidate being responsible for planning, execution and reporting of a variety of tests.
Responsibilities
1. Liaising with customers to ensure their requirements are met and they are aware of test progress
2. Ensure all tests are appropriately planned, running correctly and fully documented
3. Follow test procedures, fully understand the test requirements and communicate these clearly with others
4. Coordinate, supervise and conduct tests and lab activities, working with engineers and technicians
5. Develop risk assessments for tests
6. Programming of test equipment including; PLC, Chambers and shakers
7. Rig design and preparation using CAD packages
8. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to ensure ever improving facilities, processes and test methods
9. Undertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretations
10. To report, review and provide authorisation of results
11. Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times
Qualifications
Qualifications
12. Qualified to bachelor degree or equivalent with appropriate experience, preferably in an automotive or electrical discipline.
Experience
13. Component testing (beneficial)
14. Climatic and vibration test equipment (beneficial)
15. Use of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems (beneficial)
16. Automation systems and PLC’s (beneficial)
17. Customer service (preferred)
18. Data analysis (desirable)
19. Hands-on experience in a lab or workshop environment (preferred)
20. Report writing (desirable)
Skills
21. Able to carry out at least basic workshop fitting tasks
22. Ability to find creative solutions to problems
23. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
24. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
