Job Summary - Health and Safety Officer:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Health and Safety Officer to support a public sector organisation with construction-related health and safety activities for a period of 3-6 months.
Duties
1. Review and audit health and safety documentation including RAMS, COSHH assessments, and permits to work.
2. Ensure submitted RAMS are site-specific, suitable, and sufficient for planned activities.
3. Verify compliance of documentation with relevant legislation and industry standards (e.g., CDM Regulations).
4. Assess contractor and subcontractor health and safety documentation prior to project commencement.
5. Provide feedback and recommendations for improving documentation quality and accuracy.
6. Maintain records of reviewed documentation and audit findings for internal reporting.
7. Liaise with site teams and contractors to clarify and resolve documentation issues.
8. Support development and standardization of internal H&S documentation templates.
9. Identify trends or recurring issues in submitted RAMS and recommend corrective actions.
10. Contribute to training and awareness sessions on preparing compliant H&S documentation.
Experience
* Proven experience in a health and safety role or similar position within construction environment is preferred.
* Strong ability to clearly document findings and recommendations.
* Familiarity with root cause analysis techniques to effectively address safety issues.
* Strong familiarity with health and safety documentation including RAMS, COSHH assessments, and permits to work.
