WEEKEND SUPPORT WORKER NCYPAS, NOTTINGHAM, PERMANENT, 15HRS, GRADE 2 AS, £24,398, FTE

Duties & Responsibilities NottinghamCitys Young Persons accommodation service (NCYPAS) is recruiting for 3 weekend support workers! Each role is a 15-hour contract, split between 2 shifts over the weekend, with one shift on Saturday and one shift on Sunday. The shifts will be a mixture of either 8-4s or 2-10s. We have 31 self-contained flats across two properties with one dispersed property out in the community. Youll be based at either Caunton Avenue or Francis House. At Caunton Avenue we support 11 young people with the ultimate aim of re-housing them permanently. At Francis House its the same mission but working with 20 young people. We work with 1821-year-olds who have been assessed as homeless, but we do have the capacity to work with 16/17-year-olds and care experienced people up till the age of 25. With the service manager, assistant manager, support planners and other support workers youll be working with young people in finding permanent accommodation and supporting with any barriers they encounter. Those barriers range from gaining confidence and support with well-being, to finding tenancies and budgeting. Our residents have a diverse range of needs too- the main needs are homelessness, mental and physical health, substance use, experience with the justice system, healthy relationships (including DA/DV), childhood trauma and young people whove been granted status. This list isnt exhaustive. The work can be difficult but its ultimately rewarding, and we work hard as a team to support each other! We're looking for a strengths-based approach, using the elements of being psychologically informed and creating environments where our young people will flourish! We want creative and innovative solutions to work with our young people. Our key partner is Housing Solutions and thats where all our young people are referred from. We are given a 6-month time frame to work with them. The role will be fast paced but will be an exciting opportunity! 15 hours a week working at the weekends. One shift on Saturday and one shift on Sunday, with a mixture of shifts- either 8-4s or 2-10s.

-Provide practical and emotional support to young people, helping them build the skills they need to live independently.
-Support young people in a trauma-informed and person-centred manner, ensuring their emotional, psychological, and physical needs are met.
-Develop trusting relationships and offer guidance to empower young people and help them achieve positive outcomes.
-Create and maintain a psychologically informed environment that nurtures trust and promotes self-efficacy.
-Assist with risk assessments, support plans, and reviews, ensuring the safety and well-being of all young people.
-Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including leaving care workers, housing officers, and other professionals.

-A strong understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches.
-Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills.
-The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
-A proactive approach to problem-solving and resilience in the face of challenging situations.
-Flexibility and a willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
