Job Description:
SJC Partners is currently managing the recruitment process for the hire of an acquisition search director into an innovative mergers and acquisitions deal sourcing business.
Our client specialises in sourcing off-market businesses for acquisition by private equity investors, PE-backed companies, listed businesses, and some private companies.
Businesses wishing to acquire or invest in other businesses engage our client to undertake a bespoke acquisition search process, uncovering target businesses within their specific criteria and facilitating introductions. Companies rely on our client to have thorough commercial conversations with business owners, quickly understanding different business models and building trust with target businesses.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end client management across the following process:
* Agree the scope of the acquisition search with clients, at board level.
* Liaise with the research team to identify businesses matching the client’s search criteria. The research will be conducted by an in-house team.
* Approach major shareholders of target businesses and hold detailed, highly commercial conversations via video call to discuss their business model, track record, growth prospects, financials, and owners’ intentions regarding selling.
* Discuss potential targets with the client and facilitate meetings with selected businesses.
* Manage the acquisition process relationship thereafter, requiring strong commercial acumen but not financial qualifications.
Applicants should be able to quickly understand various business models. Experience operating at board level is important due to direct client interactions with owner/CEO level, often involving large corporates, private equity, and PE-backed companies.
Applicants from diverse commercial backgrounds will be considered, including those who have run their own businesses or operated at Director level.
This role offers a competitive salary with a very attractive, transparent bonus structure, paid multiple times per year based on deal activity. The bonus is uncapped, and in a successful year, bonuses can amount to 100% of the salary or more.
