Community Pharmacist - Independent Prescribers CoP Facilitators

If so, we are recruiting Community Pharmacist Independent Prescriber Community of Practice (CoP) Facilitator(s) to lead and support prescribing Communities of Practice across:
* West Cornwall
* Central Cornwall
* North and East Cornwall
We are seeking experienced Pharmacist Independent Prescribers currently working within Community Pharmacy who are enthusiastic about peer support and collaborative learning.
The roles may be undertaken by one facilitator per Integrated Care Area, and we are aiming to appoint up to three facilitators across the county.
Role Title: Independent Prescriber Community of Practice Facilitator – Community Pharmacist
Working Hours: Approx. 2 hours per ICA CoP meeting (evening delivery) plus 1–2 hours preparation time
(12‑month Fixed Term Contract)
Salary: £960.00 per annum per ICA CoP
Main duties of the job
The Independent Prescriber CoP Facilitator(s) will establish and lead a structured Community of Practice for Community Pharmacy Independent Prescribers within their Integrated Care Area, strengthening prescribing confidence and supporting peer‑to‑peer learning.
The role will include:
* Planning and delivering at least one structured evening Community of Practice event within your allocated ICA.
* Creating a supportive and psychologically safe environment for case discussion and shared learning.
* Encouraging collaboration and peer networking between Community Pharmacist Independent Prescribers.
* Identifying learning needs and tailoring sessions to local priorities.
* Gathering feedback and contributing to the ongoing development of the Community of Practice model.
About You
We are looking for Pharmacists who:
* Are registered with the GPhC.
* Hold an Independent Prescriber qualification.
* Have a minimum of two years experience as a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.
* Currently work within Community Pharmacy.
* Are passionate about developing others and strengthening prescribing practice.
* Can work autonomously and build collaborative professional relationships across their ICA.
Job responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
* Plan, coordinate and establish a Community of Practice for Community Pharmacy Independent Prescribers across the three Integrated Care Areas: West Cornwall, Central Cornwall, and North and East Cornwall.
* Facilitate at least one structured evening event in each Integrated Care Area on a bi‑monthly basis.
* Create a supportive, collaborative environment that promotes shared learning, peer support, professional development and encourages reflective practice discussions, in line with professional and governance standards.
* Actively promote the Community of Practice to prescribers within Community Pharmacy with support from the Constituency’s Community Pharmacy Project Manager.
* Build strong professional relationships to encourage ongoing attendance and engagement.
* Identify learning needs and tailor sessions accordingly.
* Organise and manage the logistics of evening events/group, including agenda setting, venue coordination and communication with participants.
* Develop sessional content aligned with local and national needs and priorities.
* Facilitate interactive discussions, learning and knowledge sharing activities.
* Monitor participation and engagement levels across the ICAs and implement strategies to increase participation as necessary.
* Gather feedback from participants to evaluate the effectiveness of the sessions, adapting and improving the structure of the CoP based on feedback and emerging needs.
* Ensure all discussions and activities adhere to professional, ethical and information governance standards.
* Carried out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with the main duties, as directed by the line manager.
Qualifications
* Registered with the Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Practice Certificate in Independent Prescribing (IP) and at least 2 years experience in community pharmacy.
