Overview

From breakthrough vaccines to the daily life of our students, Oxford's social media channels share stories that capture attention across the globe. With more than 11 million followers, these channels are one of the University's most powerful tools for engagement, reputation and storytelling. We're looking for a creative and proactive Social Media Officer to help us bring Oxford's work and community to life online. We're seeking an experienced digital professional with in-depth knowledge of social media channels, audiences and content. As Social Media Officer, you'll be at the heart of the University's digital storytelling. You'll create and schedule high-quality content for Oxford's flagship channels, ensuring our audiences see the very best of our research, education and student experience. Alongside content production, youll play a key role in community and reputation management, including monitoring our channels, engaging with followers and supporting issues management. You'll work closely with colleagues across the University to source and create content - including researchers, museums teams, students and more. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where attention to detail, creativity and collaboration are vital, and where your work will be visible globally.

The Public Affairs and Communications Directorate (PAD) plays a strategic and unique role at the University of Oxford. It is responsible for Oxford's institutional communications, reputation management, media and public affairs. PAD works across six specialist teams - News & Information, Research & Innovation Communications, Campaigns & Digital Communications, Brand & Design, Events, and Public Affairs - to deliver joined-up storytelling that amplifies Oxford's global voice and strategic priorities. The Campaigns and Digital Communications team manages digital content and planning across web, social, video and more, as well as integrated institutional campaigns. This role will support the redevelopment and migration of the main University website at www.ox.ac.uk.


Responsibilities

* Skilled at creating engaging content across multiple social platforms
* Confident managing high-profile channels and online communities
* An excellent writer and editor with a sharp eye for detail
* Analytical and data-driven, with a focus on impact and results


Qualifications

* Experience and deep knowledge of social media channels, audiences and content
* Ability to source and create content with colleagues across the University (researchers, museums teams, students, etc.)
