This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A core component involves continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, good practices, and industry guidelines, while promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Collaborate with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
* Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic hazards, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
* Asbestos Management and surveys, including risk assessments and exposure evaluations
* Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Other hazards such as thermal, water quality, communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, and fatigue
• Recommend and implement control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures (e.g., LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections).
• Deliver occupational hygiene training (e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use and maintenance).
• Conduct assurance activities, including inspections and audits across operational sites, covering all occupational health and hygiene standards, including accommodation and welfare areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
* Qualifying BOHS accredited degree or
* Combination of BOHS W & P modules
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques.
* Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health, influencing management and staff.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and diverse mediums.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
