Hackney is a place of energy, diversity, and ambition — and we're looking for a Strategic Lead in Corporate Transformation to help us deliver meaningful change for the residents we serve.
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Corporate Transformation, you'll play a pivotal role in driving our council-wide transformation programme. You'll lead complex programmes of organisational change, manage a talented multi-disciplinary team, and work alongside our Chief Executive, Corporate Leadership Team, Mayor and Cabinet to embed a one-council approach to transformation.
What you'll be doing
* Leading the delivery of large-scale transformation, service improvement, and cultural change programmes
* Managing and developing a high-performing team of Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Change Managers
* Advising CLT and senior leaders on emerging models, best practice, and government policy
* Championing change management methodologies that stick — building a genuine culture of innovation
* Influencing cultural and behavioural change through targeted service redesign
* Partnering with communications colleagues to bring staff, residents, and stakeholders along on the journey
* Deputising for the Assistant Director when needed
What we're looking for
* A track record of developing and delivering large-scale transformation programmes in local government
* Experience leading high-performing teams (up to 15 FTE)
* Strong command of project, programme, and change management methodologies (Prince2, Agile, MSP)
* The ability to translate strategy into delivery plans that work on the ground
* Confidence engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including elected members
* Experience delivering change in a diverse borough like Hackney
* Political awareness and the ability to navigate complex environments with care
* Resilience, adaptability, and a collaborative, resident-focused mindset
* Relevant professional certifications (Prince2 Practitioner, MSP, Agile or similar)
