We’re looking for an experienced Warehouse Shift Manager to join our busy FMCG operation in Thatcham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong people leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail or FMCG environment and enjoys working with a dynamic, high-performing team.
As a Warehouse Shift Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring operations run smoothly, KPIs are delivered, and our people are supported to perform at their best. You’ll work closely with the Warehouse Operations Managers, contributing to initiatives that add real value to the site.

Role details:
Salary: Up to £41,200 per annum
Hours: 38 hours per week
Working pattern: DAYS - Any 4 from 7 (including weekends) | 10 hour shifts
Location: Gist Limited, Enterprise Way, Thatcham, RG19 4BQ
What you’ll do:
9. Owning the recruitment and induction of new colleagues within the warehouse
10. Managing daily administrative tasks, including payroll systems, holiday queries and payroll issues
11. Driving shift performance through Team Leaders to consistently achieve KPIs
12. Planning and delivering operational activity in line with live volumes and resource requirements
13. Ensuring all health, safety, environmental and quality standards are met or escalated where necessary
14. Creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive and positive working environment for employees, agency staff and subcontractors
15. Managing direct reports across a range of people-focused activities, including: Wellbeing meetings, long-term sickness management, return-to-work meetings and disciplinaries Delivering shift briefings when required
16. Working closely with third-party labour providers to ensure appropriate resourcing levels
17. Reviewing operational plans and maintaining systems in line with live volumes
18. Identifying, reviewing and supporting training and development needs
19. Planning and leading operational, people and safety meetings
20. Conducting accident investigations, hazard walks and safety observations
21. Continuously improving performance to maximise efficiency in line with account KPIs
Who you are:
22. You have strong, hands-on experience within a warehouse operation in the FMCG or retail distribution sector
23. You’re operating (or have operated) at a management level within a similar environment
24. You’re passionate about developing teams, encouraging collaboration and creating a culture where people feel confident sharing ideas
25. You have excellent people management skills, with experience developing Team Leaders
26. You’re analytical, organised and comfortable working with data and KPIs
27. You’re flexible and open to covering a variety of shift patterns in the future
28. Experience working with Trade Unions would be beneficial
