Are you an experienced senior leader in childrens residential care ready to make a real impact across multiple services? We are seeking a dedicated and strategic Operations Director to oversee the operational leadership and development of a portfolio of EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) childrens homes based in Birmingham. This is a key leadership role for a seasoned professional with the drive, vision, and compassion to deliver safe, nurturing, and high-quality care that transforms young lives. The Role: As Operations Director, you will be responsible for: Providing strong, consistent leadership and supervision to Responsible Individuals and Registered Managers. Overseeing compliance, safeguarding, service quality, and performance across all homes. Leading Ofsted preparation, inspections, and responses, ensuring outcomes of Good or Outstanding. Developing and embedding quality assurance systems and continuous improvement strategies. Collaborating with Local Authorities, safeguarding partners, and external stakeholders to ensure best outcomes. Ensuring childrens welfare and development are prioritised in every aspect of service delivery. Monitoring operational performance through visits, audits, and hands-on leadership. Key Requirements: Essential: Minimum 3 years of senior leadership experience in childrens residential care. Strong understanding of Ofsted frameworks, Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and safeguarding legislation. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). Proven experience supporting and developing Registered Managers. Demonstrated success in leading multiple homes or services. Excellent communication, people leadership, and organisational skills. Desirable: Registered Individual (RI) experience with Ofsted. Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Familiarity with therapeutic or trauma-informed care approaches.
