Responsibilities
The band 6 mammographer will play a key role in delivering a high‑quality, efficient breast screening and diagnostic imaging service within the Breast Unit.
Perform the full range of mammographic procedures independently, applying professional judgement to produce accurate diagnostic images while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and dignity.
Provide clear explanations to patients, assess clinical needs, adapt techniques to individual circumstances, and give provisional reports on screening mammograms in line with established protocols.
Support and guide colleagues, supervise radiographers, students, and assistants, and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
Assist the Superintendent Radiographer with operational efficiency, clinical audits, and service improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with clinical governance, safety standards, and radiation protection legislation.
Qualifications
Qualified mammographer with a Certificate of Competence in Mammography and significant clinical experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work confidently independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to ongoing professional development (CPD).
