An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to undertake the role of Custody Business Advisor within the Athena Management Organisation. This primarily Home Based role will be on a secondment/fixed term basis for up to 5 years.
This is a challenging role that requires you to give expert advice and guidance to Athena Forces on the custody element of the system. You will possess a strong knowledge of custody business processes, as well as relevant legislation.
You will play a leading role in the Custody User Group, effectively designing business process for the 9 Forces.
You will respond to queries received from Athena Forces, solving problems and making decisions on behalf of the 9 force consortium. You will provide detailed information on system changes, communicating effectively across different Ranks and organisational boundaries. You will be capable of influencing and building consensus to move business forward.
You will be able to work on your own initiative and prioritise your work to achieve the best outcome for forces. Knowledge of project management principles would be beneficial.
You will have experience of working with other forces or partner agencies, with any experience of IT system testing welcome, but not essential.

1. Extensive recent experience in the Custody element of Athena
2. Effective communication of business processes & supporting rationale
3. Strong problem-solving abilities
4. Influencing & building consensus
5. Effective working with other Police Forces or partner agencies
6. IT Systems testing experience
7. Knowledge of project management principles
8. Previous holder of Custody Sgt role
Successful applicants for this role will be defined as an; Home based Agile Worker - Works predominately (80% or more) at home only working in the office when required to do so. The role will offer flexibility in terms of place of work, but is predominantly home working. The extent of flexibility will be agreed through individual assessment with the line manager to assess operational requirements and individual’s suitability for home working. In the event that home working is agreed for the successful candidate, there will be a requirement to regularly attend the contractual workplace.
Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £43,524.00.
Kent Police and Essex Police have separate salary grading systems therefore the salary for this position will be dependent on which home office force you are appointed to. This will be discussed with the successful applicant before a final offer is made.
