A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to join their Strategic Transportation Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a transport planning environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To play a key role in the delivery of the authority’s transportation function, supporting the development and review of national, regional, sub-regional and local transport strategies, policies and programmes. The role will also provide expert transport input into the planning process and represent the Strategic Transportation function at Planning Committee.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Developing and delivering transport strategies, policies and programmes in line with local and national objectives
• Providing advice and comment on transport assessments, transport statements and travel plans submitted as part of planning applications
• Managing consultation processes on planning applications and representing the service at Planning Committee
• Representing the authority at regional and national meetings and forums, ensuring the Council has input into policy, strategy and programme development
• Supporting the management and monitoring of capital and revenue budgets for transportation programmes
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A Degree in Planning, Transport or a related subject
• Detailed knowledge of transport policy, planning processes and highways design standards
• Understanding of relevant legislation and emerging policies within transport planning
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
• Experience delivering transportation projects across a range of specialist activities
• Knowledge of project management techniques and budget monitoring
• Experience representing a council in meetings with developers, stakeholders and members of the public
• Proven ability to prepare detailed technical reports and present at committee level
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £38 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £30 per hour PAYE).
