Key Responsibilities:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be instrumental in ensuring the pupil's well-being and academic progress. Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing bespoke one-on-one support to a pupil with specific SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their personal goals.
* Confidently implementing a bespoke behaviour support plan and using de-escalation techniques to manage and diffuse challenging situations.
* Acting as a consistent and trusted adult, providing calm emotional and pastoral support to help the pupil manage their feelings and anxieties.
* Fostering the pupil's confidence and social skills, helping them to feel secure and included in the classroom environment.
* A willingness to assist with personal care duties as needed will be a significant advantage for this role.
* Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach.
Requirements:
To be successful in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
* Demonstrable experience working 1:1 with children with complex SEN or challenging behaviour in a school or care setting.
* An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
* The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
* A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature is essential.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively.
* A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and making a lasting, positive impact.
* Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation techniques is highly desirable.
