Heckfield Place is a beautifully restored hotel on a 400-acre farm in the county of Hampshire, just outside of London. The kitchen sources some of its produce from our biodynamic market garden on site, and chefs take regular tours of the farm to draw inspiration from what they see growing. The kitchen is currently looking for a Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen. Most of our dishes are created to showcase the produce from the farm. We are looking for a chef that is willing to develop and train the junior staff and has an enthusiastic approach to a unique style of cooking and support the Executive Chef and Senior Management team at Heckfield Place in achieving excellence in food delivery and concept as detailed by the Culinary Director. Position responsibilities include but aren't limited to: The ability to work efficiently and carefully to maintain the high quality and consistency required in our kitchen. Working as part of the wider kitchen team during busy times and events. The ability to handle quality ingredients with care and attention. Be able to adapt to a changing menu and be open to feedback. Managing and maintaining a safe working environment through the kitchen and around Heckfield Place. Ensuring the correct standards of food safety, health and safety and staff welfare are adhered to. Have an open schedule that allows you to work evenings and weekends. Supporting the Senior Team, Head Chef and Executive Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen, from Breakfast to Dinner service, any scheduled events and all external food services linked to Heckfield Place. Working with the Senior Team, Head Chef and Executive Chef to ensure the culinary vision, ethos, sustainability, and excellence is maintained. Strong acumen in effective communication towards the junior and senior team members at Heckfield Place. Support the Senior Chefs in the daily, long-term, and future projects for the kitchen and restaurant. Manage efficiently and effectively – lead by example and with strict professionalism and conducting yourself with pride and confidence. Attention to detail is vital to ensure the standards are maintained and met every time.
