The Role
We’re looking for an Account Handler with a New Business focus, based in the Tunbridge Wells office, to join Darwin Clayton – part of the Jensten Group. Darwin Clayton is a specialist insurance broker that arranges tailored insurance solutions for contractors, including cleaning, facilities management and electrical contractors.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role focuses on delivering customer service excellence to commercial clients. Key responsibilities include handling new business to maximise opportunities, up‑selling, following up on leads and referrals, managing renewals and mid‑term adjustments, and supporting overall client satisfaction.
* Providing customer service excellence to existing and new clients
* Managing renewals, mid‑term adjustments, claims notifications, premium collection and other client queries
* Maximising cross‑selling and up‑selling opportunities
* Ensuring compliance with local procedures, customer service standards and external regulations such as FCA & Consumer Duty
* Supporting team performance through regular communication with colleagues and the manager to raise concerns and propose solutions
About You
* Commercial insurance background preferred
* Experience as an Account Handler handling new business, ideally with a progressive track record
* Drive and genuine passion to learn and develop within the insurance industry
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi‑task, updating systems and admin as required
* Strong telephone manner, able to network and build working relationships easily
* Ability to work independently, prioritise and organise workload without supervision
* Capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Cert CII qualified or working towards (ideal)
* Acturis systems knowledge & experience preferred
