About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Operations / Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager to join our expanding operations team. This role is central to our continued growth and offers real opportunity to influence how we manage suppliers, stock, and purchasing across the business.
You will be a proactive and detail-focused professional who thrives on delivering excellent customer service, negotiating the best deals, and ensuring quality through every part of the supply chain.
This role is being introduced as a result of both internal progression and long-term business growth. For the right candidate, it offers the potential to expand into broader operational responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all purchasing activity across all Summit business units
* Build and manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality, pricing, and compliance
* Create and implement supplier performance tools
* Lead and develop the purchasing team, while supporting warehouse and fabrication areas
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date pricing in the ERP system
* Support the sales team with updated supplier pricing and terms
* Manage stock levels based on historic sales data and future demand forecasting
* Organise international freight and manage associated costs
* Read and interpret legal documents such as supply contracts and import/export agreements
* Champion the integration of purchasing and logistics into the core of business operations
Essential Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in a similar supply chain or purchasing role
* Experience managing supplier and customer relationships
* Excellent communication skills and fluent in English
* Strong working knowledge of supply chain processes and ERP systems
* Ability to manage a team and deliver results under pressure
* Record of achieving cost savings and hitting delivery deadlines
* Experience with MS Dynamics CRM
* Familiarity with MS Navision / Business Central
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business (or relevant experience)
* MCIPS
* Full UK driving licence and eligibility to work in the UK
