Overview

North West First Responder Group Charity (registered Charity No. 1214699) is a volunteer-led organisation serving the North West including Wirral, Liverpool, Neston, Ellesmere Port, Chester and Carlisle regions. Responding on behalf of North West Ambulance Service, Community First Responders (CFRs) respond to 999 calls, often arriving before ambulances to provide life-saving interventions. The charity strengthens the "chain of survival" by delivering critical intervention in emergencies like cardiac arrests and acute breathing difficulties. In addition to emergency response, the organisation is committed to community health initiatives, including CPR and AED awareness and the funding, installation and maintenance of Community Public Access Defibrillators.

Role Description

This is a volunteer position for a Communications Officer role at North West First Responder Group. This hybrid role allows for flexible volunteering arrangements, with a combination of on-site and remote responsibilities. As a Volunteer Communications Officer, you will be the driving force behind creating and executing effective communication strategies that amplify the visibility of the North West First Responder Group. Your responsibilities will include drafting press releases, developing strategic communication plans, writing newsletters, managing relationships with the media, and crafting engaging content that highlights the group’s mission and activities. Alongside the existing Communications Team, you will also collaborate with our wider Senior Leadership Team and stakeholders to enhance public engagement and promote awareness about the charity\'s goals, initiatives, and achievements.


Responsibilities

* Draft press releases and develop strategic communication plans
* Write newsletters and engaging content highlighting the group’s mission and activities
* Manage relationships with media and key stakeholders
* Collaborate with the Communications Team and Senior Leadership Team to enhance public engagement
* Support awareness campaigns and promotional activities for the charity\'s goals and initiatives


Qualifications

* Experience in creating Press Releases and strong writing skills (Desirable)
* Proficiency in Communication and Strategic Communications (Required)
* Skills in Media Relations and public engagement strategies (Required)
* Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines (Required)
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills (Required)
* Experience with nonprofit organizations or a background in public health communication (Desirable)
* Bachelor\'s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (Desirable)
* Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content creation (Required)
