About the Opportunity We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Senior Scientist – Analytical Development to join our Protein Sciences Team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for protein characterisation and a strong background in developing and implementing analytical methods to support the advancement of preclinical biologics programmes. This role will lead the development of mass spectrometry-based methods and as well as other characterisation assays for biologics, while also overseeing outsourced methods development and phase appropriate validation to support regulatory submissions. In this role you will be responsible for: Development, optimisation and troubleshooting of analytical methods focused on mass spectrometry for protein characterisation (including intact mass analysis, peptide mapping and glycosylation analysis), Development and optimisation of HPLC/UPLC -based methods, including HIC, HILIC, SEC, and reverse-phase chromatography. Leading developability and characterisation studies to support preclinical and early development programmes. Providing technical oversight of development and validation of outsourced analytical methods in support of future IND/BLA submissions. Interpretation, documenting, and presenting data and findings to cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Collaborating within CMC and across multiple teams within the company. Mentoring to junior colleagues and encouraging development of additional Mass Spectrometry users or system owners Qualifications and requirements: Advanced degree (PhD with industry experience) in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or a related field is desired. Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry (e.g. LC-MS, QTOF, Orbitrap) and HPLC/UPLC techniques. Strong experience with a range of analytical methods for protein characterisation such as liquid chromatography (e.g. RP, SEC, HIC), capillary electrophoresis would be an advantage. Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g. MassLynx, Waters connect, Empower). Proven record of leading method development is essential. Experience in characterisation of complex biologics is essential. Deep understanding of ICH guidelines and experience with IND/BLA submissions would be an advantage.
