Public Health Lead Midwife

Job overview
The Specialist Midwife in Public Health will provide visible leadership and evidence-based information and education to women and their families, midwives and the wider multi-professional team, including external health partners from the VCSO, ICM and LMNS. The post holder will work in partnership with service users, the multi-disciplinary team and local stakeholders to improve and protect health and well-being, reducing health inequalities and improving the health of the poorest families (Department of Health 2013).
Key work will focus on improving outcomes of women/people with modifiable risk factors such as smoking, preterm birth and other public health initiatives to ensure pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period are optimised for health with a focus on the long-term health and well-being of families. Implementation and objectives will be delivered in line with the NHSE 3-year plan. MIS and SBLCBv3. The post holder will represent the maternity department at the local, regional and national levels, when appropriate, influencing service development in relation to public health. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Clinical Midwifery Management Team to further develop related pathways and guidelines to ensure appropriate and responsive care.
