Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Sheffield Salary: £460 – £600 per week Contract Type: Full time, long-term / Day-to-day Start Date: Immediately Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? An exciting opportunity has arisen at a school in Sheffield seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils in achieving their full potential within a structured and nurturing environment. Staff work closely as a team to provide consistent support and encourage resilience and independence. About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to help students manage behaviour, access learning, and develop essential social and emotional skills. You will play a key role in creating a positive and structured learning experience tailored to individual needs. Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEMH needs. Assist in implementing behaviour support plans and personalised learning strategies. Support students’ emotional regulation and social development. Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams. Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and engagement. Qualifications: Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable. Understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
