About the role:
We are recruiting Mechanical & Electrical Technicians for our Clean and Wastewater Divisions in the Thames Valley & Home Counties regions. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams, responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, adhering to company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns. This role offers an opportunity to contribute positively to Thames Water's environmental impact by helping reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs swiftly to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, consult current technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if needed.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, measurement devices, PLCs, VSDs, and chemical dosing equipment.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Maintain safety standards and comply with health and safety procedures.
Thames Water operates various facilities within our divisions across the Thames Valley, allowing placement based on your location.
Working Pattern
38 hours, Monday-Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000-£10,000 annually after training.

What you should bring to the role
* Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity; electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering are essential.
* Experience in maintaining, testing, installing, and fault diagnosing electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues.
* Ability to work in confined spaces, with appropriate training.
* Valid driving license; all necessary equipment provided.
