Position: Planning Engineer
Location: Derby with hybrid working available
Salary: £45-52k (Neg DOE), and excellent benefits package
The Role:
Our client is delivering on behalf of Severn Trent Water, one of the largest and most varied water infrastructure improvement programmes in the UK. We are seeking to strengthen our Planning team with a Project Planner/Planning Engineer. Based in the Severn Trent region, you will report directly to the Planning Manager.
The programme of work across various water and wastewater schemes is expected to be in the region of £150m per year.
Responsibilities:
* Build, update, amend, and report Project Programmes using Primavera P6 software.
* Work with Senior Planners to receive coaching and guidance for your ongoing development into a planning expert and help drive team performance.
* Support Project Managers and Teams by delivering high-quality, detailed P6 Programmes that support efficient project delivery.
* Develop and maintain project plans using reliable project management methodologies with baseline scheduling assurance.
* Control project progress by identifying and producing integrated programmes covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, monitoring performance, and providing early warnings.
* Assist in minimizing risk by identifying the critical path for projects.
* Contribute to project and programme reporting to enhance business planning information.
* Lead the planning section during project progress review meetings.
Essential Experience:
* Project planning experience on various project sizes.
* Technical skills using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
* Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills to monitor and control deviations.
* Relevant professional qualifications for a Planner role.
* Basic understanding of NEC contracts and planning requirements.
Desirable Experience:
* Experience in infrastructure or water industry projects.
* Experience in project review presentations and stakeholder communication.
* Construction, civil engineering, M&E, or related experience.
* Academic qualifications in construction or infrastructure subjects.
* Experience with Power BI or similar reporting software.
* Technical degree is beneficial but not mandatory.
* Experience in project management and delivery.
