Base pay range
$60,497.00/yr - $115,526.00/yr
Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program details including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Duties
This Clinical Laboratory Scientist position is located in the Pathology and Laboratory Service at the VA Medical Center, Leeds, MA campus. It is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.
* GS-0644-7/9/11 Clinical Laboratory Scientist duties include but are not limited to:
* Independently carrying out daily laboratory operations at the GS-11 level.
* Developing, performing, evaluating, interpreting, correlating, and validating laboratory procedures and results according to current regulations.
* Performing tests in specialties such as chemistry, microbiology, immunology, hematology, and immunohematology.
* Using manual or automated methods on various biological specimens and environmental samples, including quality control and maintenance of equipment.
* Correlating abnormal lab data with pathological states and determining the validity of results.
* Potential responsibilities may include laboratory safety, analyzer specialization, new test system operation, quality control, supply control, and proficiency assessments.
* May include limited duties in lab information management and ancillary testing.
* Performing tasks with a broad exercise of independent judgment, organizing and setting priorities with minimal supervision.
* Monitoring quality systems, collaborating on diagnosis and treatment, and providing education to healthcare professionals and the public.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm, with rotating weekend on-call. Flexible work schedules may be authorized at supervisor’s discretion. Telework is not authorized.
Additional Incentives and Requirements
Relocation and recruitment incentives are not authorized. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all VA healthcare personnel.
