Overview
Construction Engineer - Mechanical Piping role at Cavendish Nuclear. Location: Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset. Role type: Full time / Permanent. Role ID: SF65752. At Cavendish Nuclear we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and this role supports the Hinkley Point C Nuclear project within the MEH Alliance, delivering cabling and pipework across the project’s 2,500 rooms.
Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and motivate the team through implementation of best practice; support continuous improvement programmes to improve processes and procedures; ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site license requirements.
* Deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance programme; demonstrate a positive HSE leadership and build a strong, compliant HS&E culture throughout the construction life cycle.
* Drive Digital Enablement for Construction Progress: lead the implementation of the Procon system to support efficient construction workflows and real-time progress reporting across the MEH Alliance.
* Ensure Compliance and Readiness for Site Activities: manage the MEH Alliance’s interface with NNB’s Work Authorisation and Permit systems, ensuring activities are compliant and ready for execution.
* Coordinate Safe and Strategic Site Access: oversee planning of safe access routes to workfaces to enable smooth and secure construction operations.
* Support Precision Through Surveying and Data: facilitate topographical and other essential surveys to provide accurate data for planning and execution.
* Own Documentation for Construction Milestones: ensure all construction documentation is accurate, compliant, and aligned with the Level 4 plan—ready and accepted ahead of key milestones.
Essential Experience
* Proven Experience on Major Construction Projects: success on large-scale, highly regulated infrastructure projects with solid Safe Systems of Work and compliance-driven environments.
* Established Engineering Capability: operated effectively at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, delivering high-quality outcomes within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
* HNC qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience in installing Mechanical and Piping systems.
* CCSNSG certificate OR pass CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test prior to starting.
