Job Description
A Water/Wastewater Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, from planning and design to construction and completion. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all technical specifications while adhering to environmental regulations. The manager often works closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to manage complex municipal or industrial water and wastewater systems.
Water/Wastewater Project Manager
Requirements:
1. BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
2. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania is required.
3. 15+ years of experience with water/wastewater engineering, including infrastructure development and rehabilitation for sewer collection, conveyance, pump stations, treatment, water supply, treatment, transmission, storage, pumping, and distribution.
4. Experience working with local and state agencies, including PADEP.
5. Progressive experience working directly with clients and managing all aspects of projects.
6. Excellent communication, project management, and client relation skills.
7. Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record of understanding and adhering to contractual requirements.
8. Experience with Act 537 Plans is a plus.
9. Some AutoCAD Civil 3D experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage all aspects of multiple engineering projects for client representatives and senior project managers.
2. Assist with client representation, including attending public meetings.
3. Supervise department staff assigned to projects.
4. Prepare evaluations of existing and proposed facilities to identify improvement alternatives, including project costing.
5. Supervise the preparation of plans, specifications, permitting, bidding, and construction administration for capital projects.
6. Conduct sewer system condition evaluations, including televising sewers.
7. Coordinate with contractors and client staff.
8. Develop and oversee Act 537 Plans.
9. Prepare Chapter 94 Reports.
10. Review proposed land development projects.
11. Assist in QA/QC for design reviews.
12. Prepare design plans, construction specifications, and studies for water/wastewater infrastructure construction.
13. Research state and local design standards.
14. Coordinate with contractors and clients’ engineering staff.
15. Assist in QA/QC design reviews.
16. Support Project Managers with various engineering projects.
Minimum Requirements:
1. BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
2. PA Professional Engineer registration or ability to obtain it.
3. 7+ years of experience in water/wastewater design and strong organizational skills.
