Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioner to join the Piece of Mind Team (Darlington Mental Health Support Team).

EMHPs have a key role as members of the Piece of Mind Team (MHST), who have the responsibility for delivering schools' overarching approach to providing mental health and well-being support for children and young people.

This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. However, sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements, therefore, we recommend that you assess your eligibility before applying for this position. Visit

Main duties of the job

EMHPs have the responsibility for delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people in education settings with mild to moderate mental health problems.

To support and facilitate staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing.

Work in effective, evidence-based partnership with children, young people, their families and their educators in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential

1. BSc Hons
2. Successful completion of a Health Education England commissioned 1 year Post Graduate Diploma (Educational Mental Health Practitioner).

Desirable

3. Evidence of CPD in child and adolescent mental health and/or education

Experience

Essential

4. Ability carrying out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children
5. Ability to conduct group parenting programmes
6. Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group
7. Ability to conduct mental health assessments of children and young people
8. Ability to make an assessment of risk and to record and communicate it appropriately
9. Ability takes appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk

10. In providing training with education staff in an education setting

11. Strong interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal
12. Effective communication and positive interpersonal skills
13. Work in line with the vision for the future of children's and young people's services
14. Sound value-based practice which empower individuals and promotes wellness and is recovery focused
15. Demonstrate personal qualities and skills which involves taking the lead in teaching and/or having presentation skills against various individuals and groups across the sectors
