The Role
As a Metocean Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the successful delivery of our metocean campaigns - from planning and mobilisation through to deployment, servicing and reporting.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and testing oceanographic and metocean equipment.
* Supporting offshore mobilisation and vessel operations.
* Deploying and servicing equipment such as wave buoys, floating LiDAR systems, seabed instrumentation, tide gauges, wave radar systems.
* Assisting with mooring assembly and maintenance.
* Working in line with ISO‑accredited management systems and QHSE procedures.
* Working with telemetry, environmental sensors and real‑time monitoring systems.
* Processing and reviewing environmental and survey data.
* Producing technical reports and project documentation that meets legislative, regulatory, client and internal quality standards.
* Working closely with colleagues to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality offshore operations and fieldwork planning.

About You
We’re looking for a practical, motivated metocean engineer/oceanographer who enjoys working with specialist equipment and thrives in a dynamic, project‑driven marine environment.
* Level 3 qualification or above in science, engineering, electrical or mechanical disciplines, or a degree in an oceanographic‑related subject or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience
* Two years’ plus industry experience in a relevant technical or engineering role (preferred).
* Hands‑on experience delivering technical projects, including deployment of metocean instrumentation in coastal and offshore environments.
* Practical workboat experience.
* Fieldwork or marine survey experience.
* A systematic, methodical approach with strong attention to detail.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, data loggers, and instrument interfaces with satellite/GSM telemetry systems.
* Strong communication skills and the confidence to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Experience preparing risk assessments and method statements.
* Full manual UK driving licence (ability to travel to offshore mobilisation sites as required).

* Willing to travel (primarily within the UK and Europe, with occasional further travel)

Location
The role is based at our partner company - Osbit’s well‑equipped new assembly and service facility located within the busyPort of Blyth, Northumberland a globally renowned hub for offshore engineering.
