Working Pattern: 2-week rota (Week 1: Monday to Saturday, 6 days / Week 2: Monday to Saturday, 5 days with 1 day off agreed with management)
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days per year
About the Role
Country Fresh Foods Ltd, a well established family run business and supplier of quality fresh produce and foodservice products, is seeking an experienced Transport Manager / Planner to take responsibility for the effective and efficient running of our transport operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth delivery of goods to our customers while maintaining compliance, operational efficiency, and excellent service standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee daily transport operations, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods.
* Lead and manage a team of approximately 20 staff, fostering a positive and productive working environment.
* Plan staff rotas and monitor performance to ensure operational requirements are consistently met.
* Manage fleet operations, including vehicle loading, routing, and scheduling.
* Optimise delivery routes to achieve maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
* Oversee the fleet maintenance and ensure vehicle maintenance is carried out in line with compliance and safety standards.
* Maintain strong communication with drivers, warehouse staff, and management.
* Uphold high levels of customer service and operational standards.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety and legal requirements across all transport activities.
Skills and Experience Required
* Proven management experience, preferably within a transport, logistics, or warehouse environment.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Knowledge of Sheffield and surrounding areas within the North of England.
* Previous warehouse and logistics or transportation experience.
* Physically fit, able to lift items up to 25kg and work on your feet.
* Able to work early mornings and have own means of transport in to work.
* Fork truck licence (desirable but not essential).
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Proactive, adaptable, and able to demonstrate a professional approach at all times.
