Introducing Blueco
Blueco Healthcare is a CQC registered digital healthcare provider, offering remote clinic services & pharmacy services.
We are looking for a Pharmacist with Independent Prescribing Qualifications to join our clinical team. You will be joining a team of Pharmacist Independent Prescribers, a specialist nurse and consultant endocrinologist, overseen by our Clinical Lead (Dr. Dawn Harper).
This is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative service gaining valuable experience in a multidisciplinary, patient-centred environment, including as part of an NHS Tier 3 specialist weight management service.
You will primarily be working in our weight management & obesity service which includes prescribing of Semaglutide (Wegovy) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) alongside working with allied healthcare professionals (dieticians, psychologists & health coaches).
You will also be interacting with our Service Delivery Team made up of technicians, dispensers and healthcare assistants and our pharmacists.
Our services cover a small range of carefully selected conditions, underserved by the NHS, and some are run in partnership with leading health & care providers across the NHS, private pay, and insurance. In addition to this, we operate Pharmacy Prime (www.pharmacyprime.com) which supplies OTC medicines via our website for home delivery.
The role
You will primarily be working in our weight management service:
* Consulting with patients remotely via asynchronous, video and telephone consultations.
* Reviewing patient histories (including Summary Care Records), biometric and self reported data and medications.
* Prescribing medications from our limited formulary in line with our organisation's service and treatment plans.
* Following-up with patients as part of regular check-ins and ongoing monitoring.
* Providing advice and support to patients to manage their medicines effectively and mitigate adverse effects.
In addition to this, you will:
* Refer patients and cases to the lead prescriber, consultant endocrinologist and clinical lead.
* Liaise with the clinical lead, other prescribers, pharmacists, GPs, health coaches, dieticians and other professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Carry out training with our clinical lead, clinical advisor and other prescribers to further develop your competencies.
* Report to the Registered Manager, Superintendent Pharmacist and Nominated Individual as well as the Clinical Lead.
There will also be scope to:
* Prescribe on our other services (subject to competencies).
* Support the design of our services and development of treatment plans.
* Train and audit the work of other prescribers (including external prescribers using our pharmacy dispensing services).
* Support our marketing team in developing high quality, accurate and compliant content.
What we expect from you
You must have an up-to-date and extensive knowledge of the conditions you will be treating and medications you will be prescribing. You should be up to date with the latest guidance and evidence including those published by NICE and in the BNF and Electronic Medicines Compendium (emc).
You must be competent in prescribing medications, and work in line with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Prescribing Competency Framework and General Medical Council’s Good Practice in Prescribing and Managing Medicines and Devices.
You have experience in weight management & obesity, including competency in prescribing Semaglutide (Wegovy) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro). You will receive additional training on our treatment pathways and prescribing protocols.
You should be able to manage referrals and information from GPs and other health professionals and where required refer to blood tests and other reports.
You must have experience consulting with patients remotely, and be able to identify when a remote consultation is not appropriate and where there are possible safeguarding concerns.
You must be comfortable doing all of your work on a computer using cloud-based tools. We do not expect you to know how to use all the systems we have in place, and we will provide 1:1 training and on-demand support to get up to speed with them.
You must be able to organise and manage your own schedule in order to ensure services are delivered safely and effectively, to a high standard and on-time as per our SLAs.
You should enjoy learning and growing – both clinically by completing CPD courses and independent research and also operationally by working with our governance & design team and platform engineering team.
You must be willing to spend time understanding our policies and processes and suggest changes and improvements to them. As a young and small team, we are always learning and improving how we do things.
You must be comfortable communicating with both patients and colleagues remotely via email, chat, video call and telephone – this is vital as our services are delivered remotely and our team is hybrid.
You must be able to work collaboratively and should be willing to support colleagues in developing themselves and in completing further training.
Prerequisites
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Qualification in Independent Prescribing.
* 2+ years experience as a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.
* 1+ years experience prescribing Semaglutide (Wegovy) and Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for weight management & obesity.
* Enhanced DBS Check.
* Level 3 in Safeguarding.
* Indemnity insured (your work for Blueco will be covered as part of our organisation policy).
2+ years experience working in GP/primary care settings and remote services is preferred. Candidates who do not have this are still encouraged to apply, especially if you have significant experience prescribing medications for weight management.
Please note: As part of your requirement process we will require you to submit for assessment a sample of prescriptions you have issued (with accompanying prescribing and consultation notes).

* Job Type: part-time (min. 20 hours per week) — fulltime
* Location: in-person preferred at Walton Summit, Bamber Bridge, Preston, PR5 8AR (with hybrid remote working possible)
* Job Start Date: Flexible (there are 3-4 openings)
