Offer description

Tiivistelmää luodaan…

Do you want to help develop a control system that takes manual operation of heavy industrial machinery towards intelligent, semi-autonomous – and later fully autonomous – functionality? In this role, you will have a direct impact on how heavy equipment control transitions from manual to autonomous operation in a real machine, not just in a lab environment.

About The Role

We are looking for an Automation Engineer to develop model-based control software for an industrial device. The work starts with a strong focus on development and simulation, and progresses step-by-step towards hardware testing and supporting deployments at customer sites (also internationally as the project advances).

In this role, you will develop control software for heavy industrial hydraulic machines, with the goal of making their operation more autonomous. Your work begins with software development and later expands to working with the physical equipment as well as global deployments.

Our client offers a full-time, permanent position, a competitive salary (approximately €4,500–€7,000/month depending on experience), and the opportunity to work in a flexible hybrid model. You will be part of a long-term and innovative project.

Work tasks

* Develop control software for an industrial hydraulic machine
* Implement model-based development (Matlab/Simulink) and take solutions towards real-world hardware testing
* Work with sensors, control systems, and fieldbuses / industrial networks
* Support global deployments and installations as the project progresses

Key Skills

* Matlab/Simulink (model-based development)
* Control and tuning, e.g. PID
* Sensors and system integration
* Communication protocols and industrial networks, e.g. Ethernet and Profibus
* Understanding of PLC environments (especially a plus if you have experience with Siemens and/or IFM environments)
* Knowledge of mechatronics, hydraulics and/or pneumatics
* Fluent English; Finnish language skills are a strong advantage

Practical details

* Hybrid model: approx. 2–3 days/week on-site in the Lahti area, the rest flexibly remote
* Employment: permanent, full-time, direct recruitment
* Salary: approx. €4,500–€7,000/month depending on your experience
* Start: preferably April 2026, or as agreed
* Willingness to travel: travel is mainly in the later phases of the project and on an as-needed basis (e.g. a few trips per year)

Our recruitment process

This recruitment process is handled by Academic Work and it is our client’s wish that all questions regarding the position is directed to Academic Work.

Our selection process is continuous and the advert may close before the recruitment process is completed if we have moved forward to the next phase. The process includes two tests: one personality test and one cognitive test. The tests are tools to find the right talent for the right position, to enable equality, diversity, and a fair process.
