Qualifications

Essential criteria

* GCSE or equivalent NVQ
* Care Certificate

Desirable criteria

* Educated to A level or higher level of further education.

Experience

Essential criteria

* Multidisciplinary team working
* Experience of working in mental health or National Health service

Desirable criteria

* Experience of supervision of students and staff
* Involvement in research and clinical audit

Knowledge

Essential criteria

* Mental health diagnoses/presentations
* Clinical and environmental risk
* Equality and diversity
* Awareness of the need to work within appropriate boundaries
* Group work theory and practice

Desirable criteria

* De-escalation techniques.
* Knowledge of OT process.

Skills

Essential criteria

* Organisational ability
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to build rapport with service users, carers and colleagues
* Ability to work independently and under supervision as part of a team
* Group work skills • Computer literacy

Desirable criteria

* Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance

* Experience in preparing and presenting information at meetings or training sessions.
