Senior Finance Officer
Pertemps Scotland Ltd are working with our client in Edinburgh to recruit for a Senior Finance Officer in the Public Sector on a temporary basis for 6 Months with potential extension.
Day rate: £180 - £200 (Inside IR35)
Currently working remotely.
Main Duties:
* Responsible for the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations, managing workload and priorities.
* Ensure that the 10-day invoice payment performance target is met and a high-quality service is delivered to internal and external customers.
* Identify weaknesses and inefficiencies in controls and processes and put forward recommendations for improvement.
* Employing judgement and financial knowledge and experience to identify errors and use initiative to rectify errors and proactively prevent issue escalation.
* Responsible for carrying out control and quality assurance procedures over financial transactions and reports, including identifying mis-posted items, performing reconciliations and carrying out trend analysis.
* Process daily financial transactions, including journals, using judgement and financial experience to review financial coding and challenging supporting evidence to maintain the integrity of financial records in line with financial standards.
* Review invoices and maintain the monthly accruals and prepayments workbook, ensuring journals are accurately processed.
* Respond to queries received on the team and provide professional guidance and support to colleagues.
* Responsible for financial delegated authority letter review and support the Finance Manager in reviewing supporting policy.
* Responsible for monthly cash management returns.
* Work flexibly across the Finance Team, taking on a range of other work as required to ensure that priorities are met.
Essential:
* Proven experience of developing, implementing and operating financial processes in the areas of budgeting, financial management and resource accounting.
* Ability to work without daily supervision, using initiative to seek out solutions to non-standard issues.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial information and make recommendations to ensure value for money.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide financial advice to support strategic and operational decision-making and drive performance.
Candidates are required to have a Basic Disclosure Scotland Certificate or willing to get one
