The Shift Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the production operation during their shift. This includes Health & Safety, Quality, Cost Control and People Management and development. The role ensures that the production plan is delivered safely and efficiently, while maintaining standards, ensuring cycle times and scrap are closely controlled. The Shift Manager leads through a visible presence on the shop floor, setting clear expectations with their team and dealing with issues as they arise. The role holds full accountability for shift performance and acts as the senior decision maker in production on shift and for the site outside of normal working hours.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
· Take full responsibility for health, safety and environmental performance on shift.
· Ensure safe systems of work, training documents & PPE requirements are always followed.
· Be visible and proactive on safety, carrying out checks and audits during the shift.
· Ensure accidents, near misses and hazards and stop work incidents are reported, investigated, and actions closed out.
· Promote a strong safety culture by setting the standard through behaviour.
· Ensure all Amcor Safety Principles and Life Saving Rules are embedded and always followed. Demonstrate this by following the Amcor Safety Leadership Principles always.
Quality & Compliance
· Ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards and customer specifications.
· Ensure compliance with external accreditation including BRC, ISO and internal company procedures.
· Manage quality issues, non-conformances, test stock and rework on shift.
· Ensure Amcor Quality Principles are embedded on the shift and reinforced by random checks and on shift leadership.
People & Leadership
· Lead, support and manage all production employees on shift.
· Set clear expectations for behaviour, standards and performance.
· Manage time & attendance, conduct return to work meetings and deal with day-to-day people issues fairly and consistently.
· Apply company procedures including disciplinary procedures fairly and consistently when required.
· Carry out reviews, team briefs and regular communications to keep teams informed and engaged.
· Develop individuals and teams supporting training, progression and succession planning.
Production & Delivery
Take full responsibility for delivering the production plan on shift.
* Ensure labour and resources are used effectively to meet output, quality, and delivery targets.
* Manage and control shift performance against agreed KPIs, including OEE, cycle times, scrap, quality, and OTIF.
* Ensure accurate recording of production data, downtime, and issues.
* Be fully prepared for daily review meetings, ensuring issues are understood and actions are in place.
* Ensure effective shift handovers with clear communication of priorities and risks.
Cost & Efficiency
· Maintain a strong focus on cost control through labour efficiency, waste reduction, and scrap control.
· Challenge inefficiencies and drive improvements in performance and utilisation.
· Support improvement opportunities where they add value to the operation.
Continuous Improvement
· Promote and support a culture of continuous improvement on shift.
· Encourage problem-solving at source and prevent repeat issues.
· Work with support functions to improve process stability, reliability, and performance.
Site Responsibility
· Act as the most senior person on site outside normal office hours and at weekends.
· Ensure site standards, security, and safe operation are always maintained.
Flexibility

Qualifications, Experience, Technical Skills / Knowledge
Essential
· Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a manufacturing environment.
· Strong understanding of production operations, labour management, and performance control.
· Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements in manufacturing.
· Experience managing KPIs such as OEE, scrap, quality, and delivery.
· Confident people manager with the ability to lead, challenge, and support teams.
· Clear communicator, able to engage with teams at all levels.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
· IT literate, including use of production systems and Microsoft Office.
Desirable
· Experience within an injection moulding environment.
· Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
· Experience working within BRC, ISO, GMP or similarly controlled environments.
· IOSH or NEBOSH health and safety qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
